In the summer of 1993, I had an idea of opening a flower shop. My husband was not very supportive of the idea. He could not figure out why I would want to give up a good and very high paying job to go into the retail business. On Sweetest Day of that same year he walked into a local florist shop, waited 45 minutes in line, and was treated like an interruption rather than a customer. He came home and apologized for the arrangement, and also said that I could have my flower shop.
On February 4, 1994, J. Alexander's opened for business, (yes 10 days before Valentines Day). We jumped in with both feet. On May 1, 1994, we signed an additional lease for more space.
The overall goal of J. Alexander's is to be the best flower and gift shop. We purchase the finest products available on the market for our customers, therefore we will also provide the best service "The Royal Treatment," available to our customers.
We strive to make the finest arrangements, with the freshest product available so that our customers will keep coming back. Each employee is a billboard for the company, and service is our goal. We are not out to sell every person in the county flowers, we are here to service each and every one of our customers to the fullest.
